Will I Find Where I Belong?
« Thread Started on Oct 20, 2007, 4:05am »

The Trakehner was incredibly confused, she had no idea where to start exploring. She had stumbled across this place, she had heard through the grapevine that it was a meeting place. Well, it was certainly a clear area, so she would have plenty of escape routes and time to run...but it was awfully empty.

Kurenai was beginning to wonder how well populated this place was, she could not remember the last quiet place that she had been to, but then again, she couldn't remember much. She let out a long sigh, before wandering around the area some more. She wanted to find all possible escape routes, just in case she ran into trouble.

Deciding that everything was safe, she lifted her head up high and let out a loud call, calling for someone to talk to. She needed help to find her way around, she hated new places, they always made her feel nervous. All Kurenai wanted was a friend to show her around and tell her about the place in which she was now living.

The moon’s rays were a hazy pathetic display as they tried their hardest to filter through the thick lazy over hang of dreary clouds. A thick fog hung low to the earth, clinging to the tall field of grasses; they swayed to the gentle lullaby of the cold night’s breeze. The icy nip of it swirled up the tall wide trunk of an ancient maple; her branches were bare and her bark seemed to be strained with the stresses of a hard life. The breeze teased her lifting her limbs, her loud moaning and creaking was eerie as her song drifted over the vast open meadow.

The soft crunching of the frozen grass could be heard as an angel slipped peacefully from the shadows. Her sleek coat clung to her rock solid form, her muscles rippled as she walked forward slowly, each step designed and carefully placed. Her long slender neck was stretched upward; her chin tucked elegantly presenting her finely dished face like a fine piece of art. Large hazel eyes searched the meadow for signs of life, their presence were like two wild flames placed evenly upon her noble face. Small curved ears twitched as the long deep notes of the old tree reached her, accompanied by the soft whistle of the breeze. Large nostrils stretched as she searched for the warm scent of other equine, reaching for their sweet tangy smell, steam billowed from them as her hot breath mingled with the cold air, rattling like dry bones through her nasal cavities.

A mare stood alone in the open field, she seemed nervous and in need of a home. Eden smiled playfully and moved forward towards the lone flika. The fog clung pathetically to her hooves as she moved, almost floated, across the opening to her fellow female.
When she came upon her she lowered her tiara in a dainty respectful bow.

“Good evening friend. I am Eden, Queen of Vermillion Creek. Might I inquire you’re title?”

Her voice rolled like thunder, thick and rich, almost masculine but still withholding a feminine quality, she was simply a commanding presence

In a way, Kurenai had not expected anyone to answer to her call. The place seemed so desolate, and now that the fog had begun to settle, the land had an eerie feel to it. Was she welcome here, or had she stumbled into a dangerous place? She wanted to get out before night fell, because she did not have a good feeling about the place. Reality hit her full in the face, where would she go? She had no idea where she was, and when she heard the equine behind her, she wondered if she would be able to find out about the place in which she now stood.

The Trakehner turned and looked at the equine who had spoken, and who went by the name 'Eden'. Eden sounded exotic to the mare, so she wondered where she had come from. Oh well, no matter, maybe she would find out if she got to know the mare.

To be polite, Kurenai returned the bow. She had delayed her own introduction too long, and if she continued to stall then she may be considered rude. Kurenai was far from rude, so she knew that she would have to answer swiftly.

I go by Kurenai. I have only just arrived in these lands, and I have no idea of where I should be...or what this place is. she said, dipping her head a little. She wanted to know what this equine was like, and the Trakehner would be lying if she told herself she was confident of her surroundings...and her safety.

The breeze, though gentle, bit coldly at the red haired queen, her flaxen trindles dancing peacefully upon her long graceful neck. She smiled curtly at her companion as she returned the bow, though humble and shallow it was respectful all the same, and it was noted. She seemed a kind spirit for the most part, a bit skittish but Eden allowed that to pass for the time being, she knew nothing of this mare and she may have a good reason for being frightened of change.

“My friend, Kurenai, please be calm. You have no reason to be fearful of this place or its inhabitants. Be strong and have faith and your path will find you.”

Her voice was soothing, rich and deep as she reached out to her new friend. She wished to have company in her vast and lovely home, but she would not allow the weak and frail to stay there long. You see, the female heard has to fight harder than most, for their home borders that of the rogue males, and they are not kind at times. She needed strong females. Mares who could fight with their tongues as well as with their teeth. She saw this fire in her friend Kurenai. But she feared her friend did not see it in herself.

She watched and waited for the response from the mare, she was curious how one would respond to such an open ended comment.

Kurenai was surprised that Eden had come out with something like that, but it did show that she was friendly. The Trakehner felt more at ease now that she knew that Eden meant no harm. She had no reason to worry now, which was good. The mare just got so nervous when she was in a new land. She needed to know where she could escape to, and what obstacles were around her. She had always been scared to fight, since an unfortunate incident with a rabbit in her past. She had accidentally trampled it, and vowed not to hurt another creature since.

She tried to think of how to respond to Eden's kind words, but she placed a calm and genuine smile on her face. She now felt a lot better, and decided that she could trust this mare.

Thank you for your kind words, I just get worried when I am in an unfamiliar place. she explained, feeling like she owed the mare an explanation. She did not want to seem rude, Kurenai felt like she had to explain all her actions, as she was so worried about offending someone. Kurenai worried a lot, but she had got better, she used to be afraid of her own shadow when she was much younger. The Trakehner was a lot older now, it wasn't that she didn't have a spine, she could stand up for herself if she needed to, but she got very nervous and jumpy in unfamiliar situations.
